Outdoor Family Movie Nights – Alliance for the Arts

Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers, Dr. Tim Verwest, DMD will sponsor family movie nights at the Alliance for the Arts for the 2016 season. This is the third consecutive year the dental practice has sponsored movie night. All funds collected go to support the children programming at the Alliance for the Arts.

Family movie night at the Alliance for the Arts begins Friday, January 20 at 6:30PM with a screening of Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip. “The Alliance for the Arts provides quality family entertainment and we’re happy to continue to support this worthy organization,” said Dr. Tim Verwest, DMD of Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers.

The series continues Friday, February 17 at 7PM with Ice Age: Collision Course, and concludes on March 10 at 7:15PM with How to Train Your Dragon 2. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, coolers, and blankets. There is a $5 suggested family donation for attendees.

Dr. Verwest Sponsors Energy for Life Walkathon 2016

Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers, Dr. Tim Verwest, DMD will be an energy sponsor for the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation’s Energy for Life Walkathon. The walkathon will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016. UMDF will be reaching out to the community to bring awareness to mitochondrial diseases and disorders.

The Southwest Florida Group of the UMDF will be hosting the second annual Energy for Life Walkathon. This event will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the Estero Recreation Center located at 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd., Estero, Florida 33928. Funds raised help bring awareness for those fighting mitochondrial diseases in our area.

The mission of the Walk and UMDF is to promote research, education, treatment, and cure of the mitochondrial disorders and to provide support to individuals and families affected by this disease. The effects of the disease vary: some suffer total debilitation where as others lose the ability to see and hear. It can be linked to Parkinson’s, Diabetes, and some cancers.

Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers Snow Day raises $15,000 for ACT

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 6, 2016) –Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers second annual Snow Day raised over $15,000 for the Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. (ACT).

The family-friendly fundraiser, promoted local education and awareness during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Snow Day 2016 event organizers are more than pleased with its success. “We’re pleased to have created such a unique event that’s not only fun, but brings awareness to everyday problems those in our community face,” said Jeffrey Shafer, Snow Day Committee Co-Chair.

Dr. Verwest donates to foster care children in Lee County

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 6, 2016) – Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers, Dr. Tim Verwest, DMD donated toothbrushes to foster care children in Lee County. The donations will go to the Donate4Kidz Foundation. They provides care packages for foster care children in need. Sarde Howell, a seven year old home-school student reached out to the pediatric dentist for a community service project.

“We deeply care about children in our own community and want to help out as many as we’re able to,” said Dr. Verwest. “We thank Sarde for letting us be part of his community project”.

Pediatric Dentistry of Fort Myers regularly donates to improve community health and hygiene. In 2014 the office donated over 20,000 free toothbrushes to children in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte County.

The Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) awarded Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers, Dr. Tim M. Verwest, DMD the certificate of appreciation for supporting the 2016 drug and safety education program. The practice supports the fight against drug abuse in Lee County and is active with the Lee County Coalition for a Drug Free Southwest Florida.

For the second consecutive year Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers, Dr. Tim M. Verwest, DMD & Associates has been voted best pediatric dentist of Southwest Florida 2016 by the Ft. Myers News-Press readers. The News-Press 26th annual best of Southwest Florida awards recognizes the top businesses in the community selected by their readers. Earlier this year Dr. Verwest was named for inclusion in the Consumer Research Council of America 2016 Guide to America’s Top Dentists.

His professional affiliations include The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American and Florida Dental Associations and West Coast Dental Association, the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Lee County Dental Association.  He is often a guest lecturer for various organizations and has taught classes at Florida Southwestern State College.

(ACT) has announced presenting sponsor, ApothiCare 360 will join the lineup of organizations supporting Snow Day 2016, the family-friendly fundraiser, which will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Pediatric Dentistry of Fort Myers. In an effort to promote local education and awareness during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Snow Day 2016 event organizers have pledged to make this year’s event bigger and better.

Welcoming sun and snow in one special day, the Pediatric Dentistry of Fort Myers facilities, located at 8100 Summerlin Lakes Drive in Fort Myers, will be transformed into snowfall fun for all ages to enjoy. Attendees will have the opportunity to delight in the snowfall special effects, a large blizzard tent area with snowball fun, on-stage entertainment, mascots from both the Fort Myers Miracle and Florida Everblades, as well as picture opportunities with Disney tribute characters from the movie Frozen. Furthermore, bounce houses, face painting courtesy of Painting With A Twist, food trucks, including Red Roc Cravings, Bullseye Eats Hot Dogs & More, and Kona Ice; special giveaways for the children, and a chance for the adults to win a 4-pack of one-day hopper passes to Disney World (valued at $620) are planned.

In 2015, the agency provided 5,654 clients with services. 256 were victims of sexual assault, of which 125 received the forensic examination for rape. In addition, 650 clients stayed in ACT’s safe shelters (nearly half of whom were children).

What Makes Me Smile Art Exhibit

– Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers, Dr. Tim Verwest, DMD is offering children 18 years or under a chance to create works of art centered around the theme ‘What Makes Me Smile’. The exhibit is free of charge and will be hosted at Pediatric Dentistry of Ft. Myers, 8016 Summerlin Lakes Dr, Fort Myers, FL 33907 on Saturday, July 30 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and is open to the general public.

“Art can inspire those to do great things, it takes patience, practice, and persistence,” said Dr. Verwest. “It teaches us different viewpoints, understanding and mental growth valuable for development of children”.

There will be one (1) $100 and one (1) $50 winner from each of four categories including, Preschool, Elementary, Middle, and High School.  Any type of art will be considered. Winners will be selected by a panel of local arts and entertainment industry judges.
