Special needs dentistry

Tell us what works for your child. We build the visit around it.

You are the expert on your child. Our job is to listen first, then shape the appointment, the room, the pace and the team around what you tell us.

Special attention is the whole approach

Children with special needs deserve special attention, and starting preventative dentistry early is particularly important, because unlike many health conditions, dental disease is preventable. Every child is different, so nothing about these visits runs on a default setting.

What individualized actually looks like

Concretely, it means the things families tell us matter most:

  • Extra time, so nothing about the visit is rushed and nothing has to be finished just because the clock says so.
  • A calmer room, with the stimulation turned down for children who need it quieter, dimmer and slower.
  • The same patient team at every visit, because familiar faces are half the battle, and trust built last time should still be there next time.
  • You, wherever you are needed, including right in the room.

Parents consistently mention how comfortable their kids feel here, and that comfort is built one small accommodation at a time.

Booking is one quick call.

One number reaches both offices, Monday to Friday 8 to 5. Your child's health details stay in a conversation with our front desk, never typed into a website.

Familiarity is a treatment plan

For many children, the winning strategy is a series of short, positive visits that each go one small step further: today the chair, next time the mirror, the time after that a cleaning. There is no schedule a child has to keep up with. There is only the next small brave thing, whenever your child is ready for it.

Reading together helps some families prepare. Our free storybooks The Bravest Little Diver and Goodnight, Reef were made for exactly these bedtime conversations.

Every comfort tool, when it genuinely helps

The full comfort menu is available when it serves your child, from numbing cream to nitrous oxide to IV sedation with a pediatric anesthesiologist for care that cannot happen any other way. Sedation is one tool among many, never the starting assumption, and always a decision made with you.

Start with a phone call, not a form

Booking happens by phone on purpose, and for these visits that matters double: what you tell the front desk becomes the plan the team preps with before you arrive. Mention sensory sensitivities, special healthcare needs, staying in the room, or anything else that helps us get it right the first time.

One number for both offices, Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, and a real human answers: (239) 482-2722. Our full range of care is on the services page.

Parents ask us

Can I stay with my child during the visit?

Yes. Tell the front desk when you book and it is part of the plan before you arrive. For many children a parent in the room is the single most effective comfort measure we have.

What should I tell you when I book?

Whatever helps us meet your child where they are: sensory sensitivities, communication preferences, what has gone wrong at other offices, what soothes and what escalates. There is no detail too small, and nothing you share is news to a team that does this every day.

What if my child cannot finish the appointment?

Then we stop, end on a good note, and count what did happen as progress, because it is. Visits are paced to your child, and a partial visit that stays positive beats a finished one that leaves a scar. The next step gets planned with you.

Do you see adults with special needs?

Our practice is built around infants, children and teens. For a young adult patient, call us and ask: the front desk can talk through where your family member is best cared for, and what a good handoff looks like when the time comes.

Ready to set sail?

A real human answers, Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm. New patient forms arrive ahead of time, no clipboard scramble.
